I’ve been listening Hank Williams Sr. quite often in the past few years. I also recently got into these two great Old Hat Records collections of African American fiddlers from the 20’s and 30’s. Hank’s recording of this song was upbeat western swing, but I felt the lyrics could take the music somewhere else. I was inspired by the rawness and attitude of those old blues fiddlers.
